Manuel Pellegrini invited Jesus Navas to attend the event despite the Sevilla-Real Betis relationship
In the last two days, Sevilla have confirmed they have cut institutional ties with bitter rivals Real Betis after a complaint from the latter saw the Nervionenses without three players for last weekend's 1-0 win over Celta Vigo due to suspension. However, there is still a small thread connecting the two clubs at the moment.
That thread involves Jesus Navas, who will retire from professional football after Sunday's game against Real Madrid. Sevilla will have a farewell ceremony for the veteran defender on December 30, and as for MDBetis coach Manuel Pellegrini and manager Joaquin Sanchez are both still in attendance, despite the chances of the situation between the clubs.
The reason for this is Navas himself, as he personally requested that Pellegrini and Joaquin, with whom he has a very close relationship, attend. As such, it has nothing to do Seville o Betis.
