Barcelona are expected by name Marc-André Ter Stegen as their new club captain in the coming days.
Before the new The League campaign that starts next weekend, a key change has been made in Catalonia, with skipper Sergi Roberto going after his contract.
That will cause a reshuffle in the Barcelona team, with Marco indicate that Ter Stegen has accepted the challenge and will take on the role full-time for 2024/25.
Ter Stegen was Barcelona's vice-captain last season, regularly wearing the armband with Roberto playing a team role as Barcelona finished second in La Liga.
It also means a fourth permanent club captain in five years, starting in the 2020/21 season, with Barcelona hoping the German star can use his experience in the coming months as their undisputed No.1.
Ter Stegen is Barcelona's current longest-tenured player, having joined from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014, with five La Liga titles and five Copa del Rey titles, plus a UEFA Champions League crown.
