He wrote: “When I was about ten or eleven I was getting a lot of attention and we had all sorts of agents and clubs trying to pass things on to the family. United hadn't signed me up for a scholarship yet and people were offering all sorts of things.
“Some clubs offered us money that changed our lives. We'll buy the family a house and put cars in their garage. We will change your family's life. At the time, my mother was working as a cashier at Ladbrokes. My brother worked for AA. They had every right to tell me, 'Just take the deal.'
“But they knew my dream was to play for United, so they never put any pressure on me. I don't know how many people know this, but I actually played two academy games for that club to see if I liked it. I remember I came out of the dressing room and saw my mom and my brothers, and they just asked me: 'What do you want to do? Stay or go?'
“I said: 'I want to go back to United'.”
Rashford spoke about his desire to become a professional footballer and help his family have a better life.
That's why he didn't want to be photographed with two of the best players in the world.
He continued: “Money is great. It's a blessing. But dreams are priceless. For me, even at 11, playing for United was my only goal.
“I remember that around that time, when I was still trying to get a signing, Wazza and Cristiano came to do something with all the boys from the quarry, and I looked at them in amazement, do you know what I mean?
“They had a photographer there, and at the end all of us kids got a chance to take a photo with them, and I remember staying back, away from everyone. I remember my brother saying, 'Go take a photo with Wazza, bro.'” ! What are you doing???'
“I said, 'I don't need a photo.'
“He said, 'Don't you need a photo???'
“I said, 'Someday I'll play alongside them.'
“I think I was the only kid who didn't get a photo. After turning down the money, I felt hunger inside me. I didn't see myself as a kid anymore. I had to take my chance and change our lives, period.
“To be able to go on and actually live that dream, as a kid from Manchester… as a kid from Hulme, Moss Side, Chorlton, Withington, Wythenshawe… If you think I'd ever take that for granted, then you just don't believe it.” . know me.”
