Martin Keown slams Leicester players for Christmas party antics who received brutal message before Steve Cooper was sacked
Leicester City players have been criticized for flying to Copenhagen for their Christmas party.
The Foxes team were filmed partying at a nightclub in the Danish capital on Saturday night.
Just a few hours after his defeat against Chelseathe players were Seen with a sign that said “Enzo, I miss you.” in reference to the former manager Enzo Marescawho now manages the Blues.
Meanwhile, several members of the team were also photographed in costume as they continued their trip to Denmark.
His antics occurred despite Steve Cooper fired as coach Sunday after just five months in office.
Martin Keown has now criticized the players for the timing of their Christmas party trip.
The former Arsenal and England defender told White & Jordan: “I wouldn't have gone. And I wonder where the message from the club is.
“The players are not in very good shape at the moment. Why would they want to do that?
“Why are you traveling abroad? What is this desire of the players to travel to the other side of the world to go to these Christmas parties? I don't understand it.
“If they want to do something locally as a group and get together and clear things up, maybe.
“But taking off like they did is very public. And I think they can't afford to do that.
“Their focus should be on what they are doing now.
“We've seen it with Rashford, haven't we? A new manager has turned up… I'm in the gym. I can't wait for the new manager to come to town.”
leicester They are 16th in the Premier League and just one point above the relegation zone following Cooper's departure.
the first Nottingham Forest The manager won just two of his 12 league games in charge of the Foxes.
Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan argued that it cost Cooper a lot.
He told talkSPORT: “I think it's probably an unfair outlook. Firstly, it is the only club that leaves the championship and replaces its coach. So ideologically they miss the beat.
“Secondly, they haven't spent anywhere near what the other two promoted clubs have spent. If you look at what they have spent, they have spent £70 million, Ipswich spent £110 million and Southampton spent £100 million. So you have two disadvantages.
“The third disadvantage you have, which would have been incorporated into his thinking, unless they lived in a cave, is that he managed Nottingham Forest, which will create that dynamic where people don't accept him as an individual, unless he He does it absolutely well. It's not exactly the Benítez-Everton-Liverpool effect, but it has that kind of impact.
“And then there is the problem of the style of play, that he does not play in the same way as Enzo Maresca. And there were periods last year when Maresca's experiment was good and bad. Leicester fans weren't too keen on that.
“I think coming into the season that Leicester were approaching, first of all, it looked like they were going to get a points penalty.
“Secondly, they have lost creative players in the last two seasons, attacking creative players. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall left this season, and the season before, Harvey Barnes left.
“And while they have good, decent players, and I heard Danny Murphy talk about the fact that they have a decent team… it's not that good. And defensively they are not that good.
“So I think he may feel a little bad. He seemed tremendously belligerent after the Chelsea game, as if almost in the back of his mind there was something coming at him.
“I think you may feel a little unlucky. “They are out of the relegation zone, sometimes they have been good, sometimes they have been bad, they were bad in the first half against Chelsea, but the game was not over and they got back into it.”
A new director has not yet been appointed, with Graham PotterRuud van Nistelrooy and David Moyes among the favorites to replace Cooper.
It is unclear if there will be a successor in place for the next game this weekend.
The newly promoted team will travel to London to take on Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
