Although it was another poor performance by West Ham under Julen Lopeteguisince they drew 0-0 with Everton at the London Stadium.
SPORTS duo speaks here Jamie O'Hara and Jason Cundy reveal their winners and losers from Saturday's action on the game day phone…
Winners
Matheus Cunha
The Brazilian contributed a goal and an assist for Wolves and once again proved to be the main man on his team.
His second-half goal, his fifth of the campaign, was a contender for goal of the season after finding the top left corner from distance to leave former Chelsea defender Cundy waxing lyrical about him.
He said: “He set up (Pablo) Sarabia for the first goal, but his goal, what a great goal, this boy has so much quality.
“The ball at your feet, it travels at a pace, there are not many players who can travel at the same pace with the ball at their feet as in a sprint.
“He will end up leaving Wolves, he will end up being too good for them, he is a top-class player.”
Yoane Wissa
The Brentford striker scored two goals to help Brentford move into the top half of the table.
Only Erling Haaland (20) has scored more goals without penalties than Wissa (15) in the Premier League in 2024.
Praising the DR Congo international, Cundy said: “He has scored seven goals in his last five games at the Gtech Community Stadium.
“He and (Bryan) Mbuemo are on fire, they are good players. And Brentford are on the side, underestimate them at your own risk, because they can deliver you.
“But Wissa and Mbuemo are two brilliant attacking players.”
Jordan Pickford
The Everton goalkeeper helped his save take a point to Merseyside thanks to a wonderful injury-time save to deny Danny Ings.
Ings' deflected shot looked destined to lodge in the roof of the net, only for Pickford to tip it heroically over the bar.
Cundy said of the save: “What a save he made, he made a couple of really good saves, but the one at the end, it was point-blank.
“What suits him, it's above his head, it's directly at him, but his reactions are like those of a ninja.”
Losers
Rob Edwards
Dropping out of the Championship, Luton boss Edwards continues to find himself in deep waters with the Hatters in serious trouble.
Luton are in danger of consecutive relegation, and Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Middlesbrough left them in 21st place.
Of their 15 games in England's second division this season, they have only won four times and lost eight.
Fearing that Luton might now relieve Edwards of his duties, O'Hara commented: “It seems as if he is here every week at the moment.
“But a 5-1 win away from home and being in 21st place in the table, they are having a nightmare.”
And he added: “He is waiting for the call (to inform him of the dismissal).”
Kepa Arrizabalaga
Bournemouth could have escaped with a point at the Gtech Community Stadium had Kepa not allowed Mikkel Damsgaard to equalize at his near post.
The Spaniard, on loan from Chelsea, was unable to prevent the Danish midfielder's low shot, before Wissa scored the winning goal moments later.
Criticizing the former Real Madrid player, Cundy said: “It's at the first post, and if he covers that first post, it doesn't go in.
“The difference is small, it's a good finish, but you shouldn't miss it, the angle is very tight.
“If you cover the near post, the worst case scenario is that the attacker has to drill the ball through the goal, if Kepa gets something, he goes back in.
“But Kepa already played and by doing so he left the space, (Damsgaard) finished it off and they ended up winning.”
Anyone at West Ham
West Ham were guilty of another lethargic display, much to the dismay of Hammers fans who grew bored with new boss Lopetegui's style of play.
West Ham, languishing in 14th place in the table, have failed to impress this season, having been tipped with a potential European place due to their summer transfer business.
Addressing east Londoners, Cundy said: “So here's the deal, the fans, I feel sorry for you guys, you paid money to be there, but there are people there today, the stewards, the St John ambulance, the referee, he had to run between that turgid stern, he was among everyone.
“He was there thinking, 'Get me out of here,' the manager, the camera crew, anyone, the people working in the boxes, they have my sympathy.
“Fortunately the chefs didn't see it! No bubbles coming out today.
“The ball boys, I feel for you ball boys, that was one of the worst games we've seen in a long time.”
O'Hara later simply stated, “It was an absolute nightmare game.”
