Sky Germany reports that former Red Bull Salzburg and current Al-Ahli head coach Matthias Jaissle is a candidate to replace Sebastian Hoeneß at VfB Stuttgart.
In recent weeks, Hoeneß future has become more of a topic as it is likely linked to the future of Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen as well. This means that Stuttgart has to prepare for a scenario in which he will leave the club.
Germany assistant head coach Sandro Wagner has been linked to the job and now Matthias Jaissle is the next coach linked.
Jaissle is currently managing in Saudi Arabia having abruptly left Salzburg at the beginning of last season after a successful period at the club. In the Middle East, he led Al-Ahli to a third-place finish but they are currently languishing in eighth. Apart from making a lot of money, there isn’t a lot to achieve in the Middle East in terms of sporting success, so a return to Europe would make sense for the 36-year-old.
The German has a link to Stuttgart having been a former player in the youth terms in his playing career before he transitioned into management in 2014.
