Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea after a meeting with members of the Club's hierarchy.

The Argentine joined the club last summer and guided them to a sixth-place finish in a season that has seen many setbacks.

But just two days after the end of the season, the former Tottenham manager left the club.

The decision comes after a meeting with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, as well as co-owner Behdad Eghbali, over two days.

TO club statement read: “Chelsea FC can confirm that the Club and Mauricio Pochettino They have mutually agreed to separate.

“Sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said: 'On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time now and we wish him all the best in his future coaching career.”

“Pochettino said: 'Thank you to Chelsea's ownership group and sporting directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club's history. The club is now well positioned to continue progressing in the Premier League and Europe in the coming years.' .

“Jesús Pérez, Miguel d'Agostino, Toni Jiménez and Sebastiano Pochettino have left the club with Mauricio.

“The Club will make no further comment until a new head coach is appointed.”

Pochettino's contract was due to expire next summer.

Pochettino was all smiles on the final day, but it turned out to be his last game as Chelsea manager.

talkSPORT understands that Pochettino was considering quitting smoking if he didn't have more say in the club's transfer policy.

He Telegraph They report that the names likely to be considered are Stuttgart's Sebastian Hoeness, Girona's Michel, Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna and Leicester City's Enzo Maresca.

McKenna is the main contender to replace now deceased Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.
