The Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester United is still scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
However, there will be another meeting where fan safety will be a concern due to weather conditions in the region.
Rain, snow and ice have ruined Liverpool and the Northwest in recent days.
And conditions on Sunday prompted sand spreaders to be deployed to the area.
A statement from Liverpool on Sunday morning said: “A safety meeting was held this morning to assess the weather and travel conditions for today's match against manchester united at Anfield.
“At this time the match is expected to take place normally and every effort is being made to ensure it continues.
“Another safety meeting will be held at noon to assess the latest conditions.
“We will update fans as soon as we can. Please be very careful, Reds.”
A Liverpool City Council post added: “Our arenas are now on their third run since yesterday afternoon.
“If you have to travel by car or van, drive carefully.”
