Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has opened the door to a shock deal for Kylian Mbappe this summer.
The Paris Saint-Germain star has informed the French club of his decision to leave this summer as a free agent.
Real Madrid are leading the race for his signature, but Arsenal have been considered a serious suitor and Arteta says the Gunners should always be in the conversation for players of Mbappe's quality.
“When there is a player of that caliber, we always have to be in that conversation,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“But it looks different, that's what I would say.”
Mbappé appears to be heading towards Real Madrid after a long saga spanning eight years.

The Frenchman entered into talks with the La Liga giants shortly after making his debut for Monaco in the 2015/16 season.
A move to the Bernabeu did not materialize and Mbappé instead completed a £153million move to local club Paris Saint-Germain.
