Mings captains Villa against Hammers

Tyrone Mings captained Aston Villa for their FA Cup third-round tie against West Ham United at Villa Park.

The centre-back wore the armband in the absence of John McGinn and Emi Martínez, as Unai Emery made three changes from last weekend’s Premier League victory over Leicester City.

Robin Olsen, Ian Maatsen and Morgan Rogers were named in Villa’s starting XI, with the latter returning from a one-match suspension.

Martínez was not named in the matchday 20 to face the Hammers, with McGinn injured, while Lucas Digne was included among the substitutes.

He was joined by Academy graduate Bradley Burrowes, who took his place in Villa’s senior squad for the first time.

The eagerly-anticipated evening saw the club continue its season-long celebrations of our 150^th anniversary.
