Aston Villa were pitted against some of the best sides in Europe during the 2024/25 Champions League draw on Thursday night.
President of Football Operations Monchi, Chairman Nassef Sawiris, Director of Football Operations Damian Vidagany and President of Business Operations Chris Heck were among the club’s delegation at the draw in Monaco as Villa found out their opponents for the league phase.
After drawing the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus, Monchi believes the club is ready to compete in the continent’s premier competition after a lengthy absence.
“The first thing is I’m very happy to be here because after 41 years, Aston Villa can play in the Champions League,” he said.
“That’s the most important thing in this moment. I’m happy with the draw.
“It’s a difficult draw because we play Champions League and it’s difficult to find an easy team in the Champions League.
“We need to compete, we need to work and we need to go step-by-step every game to find the best plays possible.”
