Muñiz grabs late equalizer as Fulham fights back to deny Sheffield United | first division

Rodrigo Muñiz's magnificent tying goal denied in stoppage time Sheffield United a rare Premier League victory in a six-goal thriller against Fulham at Bramall Lane. Brazilian striker Muñiz scored on a volley in the third minute of added time to make it 3-3 and cap a vibrant second half that followed a quiet, goalless first half.

Ben Brereton Díaz put the Blades ahead and after João Palhinha headed Fulham At the same level, the Chilean striker set up the ball for Oli McBurnie for the home team's second before taking the Blades to a 3-1 lead. But substitute Bobby Decordova-Reid reduced the lead for Fulham with his first touch in the 86th minute and Muniz acrobatically silenced the home fans with his eighth goal in as many top-flight appearances.

The Blades, who had scored the most goals in first division history after 28 games, defended tenaciously to ensure the first 45 minutes ended 0-0. They became the first English League club to concede at least five goals in four consecutive home games in all competitions when they lost 6-0 to Arsenal earlier this month.

Muniz almost broke the deadlock for Fulham when his sliding shot in the 38th minute was pushed onto the post by Blades goalkeeper Ivo Grbic. The Brazilian hit the post again at the start of the second half when his impressive header from a deep cross from Andreas Pereira bounced off the far post.

Then the Blades scored the first goal out of nowhere. Ben Osborn released McBurnie on the left and the latter's magnificent ball crossed the goal and was swept away by Brereton Díaz in the 58th minute. The Blades' lead lasted just four minutes when Palhinha's unmarked header from the corner of the first Pereira's stick equalized Fulham.

But the Blades then scored twice in as many minutes to open up a two-goal lead. Brereton Díaz put one on a plate for McBurnie to side-foot home from close range and Bramall Lane's roof was lifted when the Chilean striker headed Gustavo Hamer's cross to the far post.

A confusing VAR check immediately after the goal ruled that Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno had not hit Brereton Díaz after the striker fell over the goal line. Things appeared to get even better for the Blades before McBurnie's effort was ruled out by VAR after Fulham failed to clear their area due to Vini Souza being ruled offside.

The Cottagers then set up a shot into the stands after Cordova-Reid fired low from the edge of the box after replacing Pereira with four minutes remaining. And in the third of 14 minutes of stoppage time, Muniz dived in on Adama Traore's cross to destroy Fulham's tie.
