'My lumps were taken out': I won the treble with Man United, but talkSPORT pundit terrified me

Dwight Yorke has recalled the torrid experience of playing against Stuart Pearce, saying: “He used to hit me!”

Speaking to Hawksbee & Baker, Yorke said: “When I was younger and playing full-back there were a few (who gave me a tough time) – Stuart Pearce It was horrible playing against him.

“He used to kick me every time to stop me from attacking and scoring.

“He used to try to intimidate me over the years in many ways, but I was still a young man trying to get to grips with the Premier League.

“Colin Hendry was another, Des Walker; Those types of players were difficult to face.

“There was a period in my career when I was 22 or 23 where I thought enough was enough and that's when I started taking on the big boys, so to speak.”

Yorke would make 152 appearances for Man United, scoring 66 goals and winning three Premier League titles before joining Blackburn in 2002.

However, the striker will be remembered fondly for his role in the club's treble, in which he will always be considered a Red Devils legend.
