New footage has emerged of Trent Alexander-Arnold's frustrated reaction to being carried off the pitch during the game against Brentford.

Liverpool sealed their second consecutive Premier League win on Sunday by beating the Bees 2-0, with new manager Arne Slot coming on to the pitch. Premier League history books as a result of his debut at Anfield.

But the shine of victory was partially lost when television cameras captured Alexander-Arnold's reaction to being taken off with 18 minutes remaining.

The right-back was replaced by youngster Conor Bradley as Slot made a triple substitution after Mohamed Salah scored to double the Reds' lead following Luis Diaz's opener.

Diaz and Diogo Jota were also removed for Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.

But as the trio walked off the pitch, England international Alexander-Arnold appeared unhappy with the decision, sitting with his arms crossed alone on the bench.

The Liverpool vice-captain was seen being tackled by Slot in the closing stages of the game, with the Reds boss placing a hand on his player's knee and speaking to him before returning to the touchline.

All this with minimal response from the defender.

He was also reluctant to celebrate with Jota, who approached him at the final whistle, craning his neck slightly to get away from the embrace.

A new angle of footage posted by fans of the game on social media shows Alexander-Arnold walking onto the pitch at the end of the match, shrugging and shaking his head.

However, Alexander-Arnold took to social media after the match to celebrate the victory.

Posting photos of himself during the game, he wrote: “First home win (tilde emoji). Fans were amazing as always.”

“I understand it,” Slot said, answering questions about his player's reaction. “All players want to play the 90 minutes, but I don't think the players who were on the bench from the start were really happy with the choice I made.”

“Trent came back from the national team, where he played quite a bit at the beginning of the tournament and then he didn’t. He had a few weeks off and then he came back.

“It's only his third game and we have to take care of him as well because we need him throughout the season and not just for the first two games.

“The good thing for me is that I also have a very good backup in Conor (Bradley). We are looking after Trent, but he played a good game.”

Alexander-Arnold is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool and talkSPORT reported that he has been one of the Real Madrid's objectives This summer.

Liverpool will now prepare to face their fierce rivals, Manchester United, on Sunday.
