Newcastle co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi to leave after handling £400m worth of transfers
Newcastle United co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi are to leave the club after three years.
Stavelely played a pivotal role in orchestrating the takeover of the Premier League club by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) in 2021.
PIF bought an 80 per cent stake in Newcastle from Mike Ashley for £300m.
As part of that deal, Staveley and her husband Ghodoussi acquired a 10 percent stake in Newcastle, while the Reuben family also bought 10 percent.
Newcastle were 19th when they acquired the club from the much-maligned Ashley.
Steve Bruce was sacked as manager, replaced by Eddie Howe, and more than £400m has been spent on transfers since then.
In their first full season as owners, Newcastle finished fourth in the Premier League in 2022/23.
This ensured the club qualified for the Champions League for the first time since 2003.
The Maggies also reached the League Cup final that season, where they lost to Manchester United.
They finished seventh in the Premier League under Howe last season.
