Newcastle in advanced talks with Crystal Palace over Marc Guehi transfer, Liverpool stance reveals
Newcastle have made unchallenged progress in negotiations to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The Toon are now in advanced talks over a £60million move for the England centre-back, talkSPORT understands, with no rivals challenging them. Liverpool.
Newcastle They are willing to shell out a huge sum for Guehi, which could come close to matching their previous record deal with Alexander Isak, which cost them £63m.
Personal arrangements are expected to be agreed with the 24-year-old, who is believed to be very keen on a move to St James' Park.
Guehi was one of England's best performers at Euro 2024 and has two years left on his contract at Palace, so now is the perfect time for the Eagles to cash in.
Liverpool were linked with a possible transfer over the weekend, with Arsenal They were also said to be admirers earlier in the summer transfer window.
But talkSPORT understands the Merseysiders are not interested in Guehi, leaving Newcastle with a clear run at the towering defender.
Palace signed Gehi of Chelsea for £18m in 2021, and has been an ever-present ever since, making 150 Premier League appearances in three seasons.
The move would make Guehi Newcastle's fifth summer signing, joining fellow Blues academy graduate. Lewis Hallwho recently made his loan to the North East permanent in a £35million deal.
Meanwhile, Palace appear to have prepared for his departure. Defender Chadi Riad arrives at Selhurst Park of Barcelona for £12m plus £2m in add-ons earlier this summer.
While talks with Guehi are at an advanced stage, Newcastle have a plan B in case the transfer falls through.

The Tyneside side were in talks with the Reds over a move for Gomez earlier this summer, with Anthony Gordon set to head in the opposite direction.
However, negotiations ultimately failed, although Newcastle remain admirers of the former Charlton man, who can play in any position across the backline.
Gomez's future at Anfield remains in doubt after he was open to a move to Newcastle earlier in the transfer window.
Where he will fit into Arne Slot's team remains to be seen, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate likely to be his preferred centre-back pairing.
With three years left on his Merseyside contract, Liverpool are in no rush to sign the 27-year-old.
Howe recently commented on Newcastle's transfer business, where he told fans that a “blockbuster” signing could prove difficult to achieve.
He said: “I think a big success like that could be difficult. The rules have changed. Transfers have changed. I hope it's not permanent.”
