This summer’s transfer saga involving Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain looks no closer to being resolved, with reports that the club has told the player he will not set foot on the pitch during the upcoming season should he stay at the Parc des Princes.
Mbappe announced to PSG that he would not be renewing his contract which expires in a year, this allowing him to move on a free transfer to a club of his choosing.
That prompted PSG to give the player an ultimatum; either sign a contract extension by the end of July or be sold this summer. Mbappe hasn’t signed a new deal.
As a result of the stand off, PSG have informed Mbappe that he will not play a single minute of football should he decide to stay with the club, report Goal.com
PSG have put the player up for sale and recently accepted a massive $300 million offer from Saudi Arabia, but Mbappe rejected a move to the Middle East outright, instead signalling his intention to see out his PSG contract.
Mbappe has a loyalty bonus written into his PSG deal which will be activated should be see out his entire contact.
Then, if he joins another team on a free transfer, it’s expected he will also pick up a hefty signing on fee.
All change at PSG
PSG are making wholesale changes this summer, regardless of Mbappe’s situation.
New coach Luis Enrique has told the likes of Neymar, Hugo Ekitike, Renato Sanches, Gini Wijnaldum, and Juan Bernat, that they can all leave the Parc des Princes in the transfer window.
Meanwhile, PSG have also spent a significant amount on players such as Manuel Ugarte, Lucas Hernandez, Hugo Ekitike and Kang-in Lee. While also signing Marco Asensio on a free transfer from Real Madrid and activating their buy-back clause on Xavi Simons from PSV.
