Fulham star Harry Wilson was lucky to avoid a dissenting booking over his spray at referee Darren Bond for a controversial decision.
Wilson was brought down inside the area by ipswich town captain Sam Morsy in the second half of FulhamDraw 2-2 with the Tractor Boys at Craven Cottage.
However, referee Bond initially ignored Wilson's protests and allowed play to continue.
Bond's decision sparked a furious reaction from Wilson, as the Wales international stood up and hurled some rather nasty insults at the official.
Wilson had to be forcefully rejected by several of his teammates, such was his anger towards Bond.
According to talkSPORT Sam MatterfaceWilson told Bond: “You're a cheater.”
But fortunately for Fulham, Bond was ordered by VAR to review the incident on the pitschside monitor.
Slow motion replays showed that Morsy had indeed made slight contact with Wilson's leg, leaving Bond with no option but to award the penalty.
Fulham striker Raul Jimenez stepped up and coolly scored from the spot to cancel out Sammie Szmodics' opening goal for Ipswich.
Speaking about the incident, the former Chelsea and West Ham midfielder Scott Minto I was surprised that Bond even needed VAR intervention.
“From here it looked like a barrier penalty and even more so in the replay,” Minto said on talkSPORT.
“I don't want to say VAR well done, because you are doing your job.”
However, Minto felt that Wilson was a lucky man not to have been reprimanded by Bond for his furious reaction to the penalty.
“I wonder, Harry Wilson “He got up very aggressively and I don't know if he swore or not,” Minto said.
“But at what point do you turn around and say, whether it was a right decision or a wrong decision, you can't say something like that with a card?
“But you can tell he got a total foul.”
Several fans on social media were unimpressed by Wilson's conduct and believed Bond should have reprimanded him for dissenting.
One fan wrote on X: “Not sure how Harry Wilson wasn't punished for dissenting, even though it was a bad decision.”
Another said: “I appreciate Harry Wilson being angry at a shocking decision, but how was he not booked for running and shouting at the referee?”
One fan added: “It's a penalty but the way Harry Wilson has just spoken to the referee is absolutely unacceptable and he deserves a minimum booking.”
Bond would again make a controversial decision almost immediately when Ipswich's Liam Delap was brought down in the area by Timothy Castagne.
The VAR eventually backed Bond's decision, but Minto couldn't believe what had happened.
“There's no way that's a penalty, I'm sorry,” Minto said.
“Maybe he cut his foot, but not enough for Liam Delap to fall.
“Even going into it, it's melee.
“I don't want to criticize referee Darren Bond. Obviously it's a difficult job to do, but he didn't want to give that penalty at the other end and he couldn't have given this penalty quickly enough at this point. “
Despite Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno's best efforts to distract him, Delap scored the penalty to put Ipswich back in the lead with 19 minutes remaining.
Unfortunately for the Tractor Boys, they were unable to maintain their lead when Bond pointed out the spot for the third time.
Ipswich's Leif Davis was to blame when he made a silly tackle on Jimenez inside the area, giving Bond an easy decision to make.
Jimenez buried the resulting penalty in second-half stoppage time to rescue a point for the Cottagers.
By doing so, Jiménez became the Mexican with the most goals in Premier League history.
The 2-2 result ensured that Fulham finished the weekend in ninth place, while Ipswich remain stuck in the relegation zone on 16 points.
