'Nothing less than a disgrace': Former Arsenal star criticizes West Ham players for their performance at Chelsea
Perry Groves criticized the West Ham players for their shocking performance against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Hammers were offside at Stamford Bridge and found themselves 4-0 down after just 48 minutes.
Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson all helped score goals before Jackson scored his second, and Chelsea's fifth, later on.
It could have been even more, as former Arsenal star Groves accused them of playing “like a team on the beach with their flip-flops and mats”.
The fans voted with their feet as The visitor's final at Stamford Bridge was empty after the fourth goal went in.
At half-time Groves said: There are five or six West Ham players who aren't trying, they've lost their edge.
“The (West Ham) players are playing as if their manager won't be there next season.
“The West Ham players don't show Moyes any respect.
“Chelsea look really hungry, Palmer and Gallagher are thriving because they are not being challenged.”
Groves even singled out some players for their poor performance.
He continued: “I can't believe left-back Emerson is still on the pitch. I can't believe David Moyes hasn't given him the hook, you've got Ben Johnson who can play here.
“If you asked Madueke what type of full-back he wants to play against each week, he would say Emerson.
“Emerson has been terrible, (Lucas) Paquetá has been terrible, Mohammed Kudus won't even need to shower after the game.
“There are five West Ham players on the pitch, just walking around.
“West Ham have been nothing short of a disgrace.”
