Sky Germany reports that the move of Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui to West Ham is now off and Manchester United are pushing to sign the Moroccan.
No agreement was able to be reached on the agent side between West Ham and Mazraoui and Premier League rivals Manchester United have already held advanced talks with the right-back. The deal was said to be worth around €15.5m plus €4m in add-ons for the Mazraoui.
Other outlets (via @iMiaSanMia) reported that Mazraoui was not keen on joining West Ham and preferred to wait for other offers from Manchester United or Juventus. However, for the 26-year-old to join either side, they will need to offload players first.
A move to United would give Mazraoui the chance to reunite with head coach Erik Ten Hag who he played under at Ajax before moving to Bavaria on a free transfer in 2022. The Moroccan was never able to cement himself as Bayern’s right back, mainly due to injuries.
Bayern will not have to worry about finding a replacement for Mazraoui due to Joshua Kimmich’s performances in the position at EURO 2024, the returning Josip Stanisic from his loan at Bayer Leverkusen as well as Sacha Boey who has recovered from his muscular injuries which kept him out for the majority of the second half of last season.
