Liverpool travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will take on Ange Postecoglou's side in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final today afternoon at 8pm UK time. The Reds have been in excellent form in the first division and the champions leaguebut their first chance at a trophy this season will come in the form of the EFL Cup if they manage to beat Spurs in the quarter-finals.
Arne Slot's team has been in great form in recent games, especially during the holidays, but the starters have barely rested. Therefore, rotations are probable in Liverpool's eleven. That being said, here is your potential lineup for the match.
Goalie – Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to feature in the cup competitions ahead of Alisson Becker and could get the nod in north London.
Defenders – Liverpool are a bit undermanned in defense, but their secondary players are also of decent quality. That would give Slot enough confidence to bench perhaps his best defender, Virgil van Dijk, who will likely be replaced by Jarell Quansah. Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate could keep his job.
Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold He could also leave, making way for Kostas Tsimikas and Conor Bradley, respectively.
Elliott in midfield, Núñez in attack
Midfielders – Alexis Mac Alliser, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch could all be rested after a busy few weeks, while Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to miss out due to illness.
Wataru Endo could benefit from the absence of the main players and a start in a holding role. Harvey Elliott will likely have a chance as well, as will Tyler Morton.
Forwards – Mohamed Salah could be rested so Cody Gakpo could appear on the right wing instead of his preferred left side. The role on the other side could correspond to £85m upfront Darwin Núñez, who has not started in Liverpool's last games in the Premier League. Diogo Jota could be number nine.
This is what Liverpool would look like on paper.
