Hugo Larsson (20) has seen his contract at Eintracht Frankfurt extended until June 2029, as confirmed by the Hessen club on Friday evening.

After an exceptional first season, the Swede’s original deal was set to expire in 2028 but amid interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich among others, Eintracht have moved quickly to tie Larsson down to a new long-term contract.

Valued at €28m by Transfermarkt, Larsson played 38 games across all competitions for Eintracht last season and has established himself as key player under Dino Toppmöller.

“Today is a great and happy day for me and my family,” said Larsson, via the club’s website. “After Eintracht approached me with the offer of an early contract extension, I knew straight away that I wanted to do it. I feel incredibly at home at the club and in the city, and have felt great trust from day one. My first year in Frankfurt was great, and I’m looking forward to many more years with the eagle on my chest.”

An excellent coup from Eintracht to tie Larsson down to a new deal, sporting director Timmo Hardung added: “Hugo developed really well in his first year at Eintracht Frankfurt and adapted to the Bundesliga quickly. He has added a lot of quality to our game and we believe he will continue to develop. His positive character is also a great fit in our dressing room. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to extend his contract.”

Larsson, who has represented his country six times, has played eight games for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, scoring two and creating one.
