Eintracht Frankfurt have announced that sporting director Markus Krösche has extended his contract at the club until 2028.

Krösche is one of the most highly rated sporting directors in Germany and his original deal was set to expire in 2025 with the director also linked to a potential higher-up role at Borussia Dortmund. On extending his contract at Frankfurt, Krösche said: “The last three years have been marked by a very trusting collaboration with my colleagues on the board, committees and employees. I have come to know Eintracht Frankfurt as a club that is very emotional and passionate. I consider it a privilege to be able to work for Eintracht and would like to make my contribution with my team to ensure that the positive development can continue in the coming years.”

Since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021 as sporting director, Krösche has made Frankfurt one of the top destinations for developing players in Europe whilst also playing a role in building the squad that won the Europa League in 2022 and reached the DFB-Pokal final last year.

During his time at the club, Frankfurt have signed Jesper Lindstrøm, Randal Kolo Muani, Hugo Larsson, and William Pacho have all joined the club. Whilst Krösche has also been able to sell the former two for €30m and €95m last summer.

This season has been a strange season for Die Adler. They have struggled in the league but currently find themselves in sixth and unless they experience a major collapse could be playing European football next season. This was likely expected due to losing key players as well as head coach Oliver Glasner in the summer but they have built a solid foundation to build on in the summer with Dino Toppmöller.
