As of today, VfB Stuttgart have confirmed that Silas has joined Serbian side FK Crvena zvezda on loan for the remainder of the season.

Over the course of the transfer window, there has been considerable speculation regarding Silas’ future in the Bundesliga.

Having failed to feature in any of Stuttgart’s opening four games of the campaign, it had appeared as though an exit from the club would be the likely outcome for the 25-year-old.

Fulham had previously shown interest in the forward, but with the Premier League window closing on Friday, a move for Silas was not an option.

As previously reported, this had left Anderlecht and FK Crvena zvezda in the race to sign the 25-year-old, with the Serbian outfit ultimately prevailing, joining the club on loan with an option to buy believed to be in the €10 million region.

Speaking upon the move, Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth commented:

“We have been examining a possible transfer for Silas very intensively over the past few days. We are well aware of Silas’ qualities, but there is a great deal of competition for places within our squad this season. We fully understand that every player wants as much game time as possible.”

“In the end, we agreed in open discussions that a loan move is a sensible solution for everyone involved given the current situation. We would like to thank Silas for the path we have travelled together over the past few years and wish him all the best for the coming season.”

In 132 appearances for Die Roten, Silas has scored 35 goals and registered 21 assists, becoming a key member of the side that helped guide the club back into the Champions League.
