Ole Gunnar Solskjaer comments on possible Manchester United return amid pressure on Erik ten Hag
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he would love to return to Manchester United as a manager if the opportunity arose.
The Norwegian has been out of work for almost three years after being fired by the red devils in November 2021.
During his time as United manager, Solskjaer managed 149 games, winning 78, drawing 33 and losing 38.
Solskjaer helped the club finish second, sixth and third in the table, while coming close to winning the Europa League in 2021, where the club lost on penalties to Villarreal in the final.
The 2021/22 season was the beginning of their decline, with a poor run of results since September, including a 5-0 defeat to their rivals. Liverpool and an eventual 4-1 defeat at Watford which led to his departure in November 2021.
Replaced by Michael Carrick and then Ralf Rangnick who took over on an interim basis, Solskjaer was eventually replaced by the permanent appointment of Erik ten Hag in the summer of 2022.
Ten Hag has been no stranger to criticism despite winning both the League Cup and FA Cup during his time at the Theater of Dreams.
But when asked at the Oslo Business Forum in front of a crowd of around 3,000 whether he would consider returning to Old Trafford if the opportunity arose, Solskjaer practically bit his hand off.
Quoted by The Norwegian media NRK, Solskjaer said: “If the (United) family asked me, I would say yes every day of the week.
“It seems wrong to talk about jobs that other people have now, but I would say yes, of course.”
Solskjaer was also questioned about the possibility of taking over as head coach of the Norway national team.
Current boss Stale Solbakken revealed he would be stepping down after the 2026 World Cup campaign, prompting Solskjaer to suggest the role would be interesting to discuss.

He commented: “I am a proud Norwegian and of course if the question arises, when Stale decides to give up, I will be happy to engage in conversations.
“I am a proud Norwegian and proud of my place of origin.”
The former Cardiff and Molde boss added: “It just has to be the right job and I depend on working with the right people.
“Even though I'm still young and virile, I also want to do something else.
“I've said no to several jobs at the club that really tempted me, but I'm determined to make one last attempt here, and I think that's it.”
