Over the course of the summer transfer window, there were a number of reports linking Omar Marmoush with a move away from Eintracht Frankfurt.
At one point, a move to the Premier League appeared to be almost a certainty for the Egyptian international, with Nottingham Forest looking to tempt Die Adler into selling with a plethora of lucrative offers.
Nevertheless, Frankfurt elected to keep the 25-year-old at the club in what could come to be one of the best decisions in their recent history.
So far this season, in nine appearances in all competitions, Marmoush has registered nine goals and six assists, helping fire Dino Toppmöller’s side to third place in the Bundesliga, just one point behind Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.
Their stellar form has also brought hopes of a potential title race, and while the campaign is just in its infancy, it has not prevented the Egyptian international from believing.
Speaking to the TV station, Yallakora, Marmoush explained that he is hoping to win the Bundesliga this season with Die Adler and is happy to have remained at the club despite interest from the Premier League:
“I would love to win the German championship with Eintracht. I don’t know how long it’s been since we won the German championship. Frankfurt won the Europa League two years ago. But Bayern almost always wins the league. If we still manage to win the championship, that would be really extraordinary.”
“Of course I knew about the offers. A transfer was possible, but thank God I stayed, and I am happy that I stayed. This was the right decision.”
With a trip away to Bayer Leverkusen awaiting Frankfurt on Saturday, the visitors will undoubtedly not be in fear of their opponents, who have shown this season that they are more than beatable.
Having already taken a point away from Der Rekordmeister this season, it is clear to see that Dino Toppmöller’s side are an early contender for the Meisterschale, and should Marmoush remain fit, then they will be able to rely upon his goalscoring exploits to lead them to glory.
