- Leicester City Vs. Aston Villa – Sat, Aug 31st 2024, 15:00
Amadou Onana walked away from the King Power Stadium on Saturday night having bagged his second goal for Aston Villa.
The midfielder managed two goals in 30 Premier League games for Everton last season but has already matched that tally in just three outings for Villa.
His first-half strike contributed to a 2-1 success against Leicester City, and the 23-year-old was happy to see his side pick up an important win.
“It was very, very hard,” he reflected.
“There was a lot of tension in the last 15-20 minutes and it’s never easy to get an away win but we did it.
“That was the main target, so we’re very pleased tonight.”
Villa were on top during the first half but needed a slick set piece to open up the hosts after 28 minutes.
Youri Tielemans’ incisive short free-kick found Jacob Ramsey, who pulled the ball across and left Onana with a tap in at the back post.
It was the culmination of a lot of work at Bodymoor Heath.
Onana said: “We work on set pieces a lot.
“It’s hours and hours of repetition, so I’m pleased it paid off.”
