A special commemorative edition of the matchday programme has been produced to mark the club’s 150th anniversary match against West Ham United.

The 84-page programme will transport you from our founding in 1874 through to the present day, celebrating the players, matches and moments that have made Aston Villa a club renowned all over the world.

The anniversary edition features gold foiling on the cover, helping to hero the crest which will appear on the team’s commemorative kit.

As part of the club’s celebrations around the match, the programme is priced at £1.50.

Fans will be able to pick up a copy around the ground on matchday, while you can also order online via the link below if you can’t make it to Villa Park.

In addition to the historical content in the programme, Villans can enjoy a feature interview with David James.

Our former goalkeeper played for the club in the last FA Cup final at the old Wembley before moving to Friday’s opponents West Ham.

“It was the first time I’d cried in many, many years. It was just a really sad feeling to lose that final with Villa,” he reflected in our feature interview when speaking about the loss to Chelsea in 2000.

“In retrospect, you look at it and go, ‘There are only two teams in the final and everyone else in the whole of the English football pyramid system wants to be there.’

“You look back at it and think, ‘I’ve had the experience of being part of a team that took Villa to the final.’ We did our best, even if our best wasn’t good enough. You can look back now and be proud of that but at the time, the defeat was very hard to take.”

There will also be special columns from regular contributors Garry Thompson and Ian Taylor as they reflect on what the club means to them.

To help programme sellers on matchday, please bring the correct change when paying with cash.
