- Aston Villa Women Vs. Tottenham Hotspur Women – Sun, Sep 29th 2024, 16:30
Lucy Parker was left disappointed that Aston Villa didn’t earn more from their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Women’s Super League yesterday afternoon.
The side came from behind with two goals in the final quarter but were left to settle for a point after 90+6th minute equaliser from Spurs.
Speaking after full-time, Parker said: “We definitely deserved more from the game.
“But that’s football and sometimes it doesn’t go your way and sometimes you don’t finish chances that you probably should’ve.
“We dominated the game in large spells, we created many chances but the final third, especially in the first-half, it wasn’t really clicking.
“But we did well to stick together and keeping push and the goals came eventually but it’s a shame that we couldn’t see it out.”
Despite the disappointment of not earning all three points the defender believes the draw is something the side can build on.
Parker stated: “It’s a performance to build on.
“We showed how together we are, we won’t stop and won’t give up until we get the result that we want.
“Today, we didn’t quite get the three points but it’s a point to take and we can go from here.”
Sunday’s fixture was Villa’s first in B6 this campaign and Parker was delighted to be back playing on home soil.
“The fans are our favourite things about being at Villa Park,” the 25-year-old shared.
“We love the support that we get and long may it continue.”
Villa are back in action on Wednesday evening as they get their League Cup group stage campaign at the Bescot Stadium against Crystal Palace.
Looking ahead to the tie, Parker said: “The cup will hopefully be a big one for us.
“We want to pick up silverware this year.
“We’ve got big goals and hopefully are performances are showing that there’s more to come and we will be a force to be reckoned with at some point this season.”
