Paul Gascoigne has played down Noel Gallagher's claims that Phil Foden will overtake the England legend within the next five years.
Foden has enjoyed the best season of his career to date, having scooped the Premier League Player of the Year award.
The 23-year-old has scored 27 goals in all competitions, including two goals in Sunday's title win over West Ham.
Foden's qualities have often been compared to those of Gascoigne, who many consider England's greatest talent.
However, the Oasis star and Manchester City fan Gallagher told talkSPORT who believes Foden will surpass the former Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder and prove to be the better player of the two.
“I think it's more dynamic, I think it's faster and I think I'll eventually be right,” Gallagher said of the city of manchester star.
“There may not be much between them now, but in five years, Phil Foden “He will be three times more of a player than Gascoigne.”
After hearing about Gallagher's prediction, Gazza took to social media to respond to the musician and even found time to make a cheeky comment.
“Noel, control, you want to move forward,” Gascoigne said in a video posted on X.
He continued: “Foden, an incredible player but not a Gazza. Don't pressure the boy. Anyway, Liam Gallagher is twice the singer you'll ever be. Get a grip now!
The video showed that Gazza has lost none of the charisma and charm he displayed during his career.
The 56-year-old created lifelong memories for fans of an older generation thanks to his outstanding performances at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
After spells at Newcastle and Tottenham, Gazza moved to Italian side Lazio, where he spent three years.
But a loss of form and wider fitness issues saw the midfielder part ways with the Rome-based club in 1995.
spells on Forest rangerMiddlesbrough, Everton and Burnley followed before ending his career with Boston United in 2004.
