While Palace took the lead with an incredible goal from Jefferson Lerma, two of Conor Gallagher put Chelsea 2-1 up, before Fernandez scored late to secure a much-needed victory for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Having spent 11 years as a Chelsea player and another three as a technical and performance advisor, there is no doubt that Cech is an avid Blues supporter and he showed as much as he celebrated the goal.

Watching Fernandez's goal hit the net, Cech emphatically punched the air before raising both arms and high-fiving Carragher while looking delighted.

The victory puts Chelsea in the top half of the Premier League table, however Cech's appearance on Sky Sports was a big win for the broadcaster due to the praise he received.

While experts regularly analyze attacking play, defenders and tactical details, Cech shed much-needed light on the art of goalkeeping, particularly Dorde Petrovic and his positioning for Lerma's first-half goal.

Fans loved the information on social media, with one saying: “This was great. I watch a lot of football, but I admit I know everything about the goalkeeper except 'oh I should have saved that.'” Given the level of knowledge we have. For other positions, it would be great to have more of this on TV!”

Another follower wrote: “It's refreshing to have a goalie on the show, and the best at it!”

A third fan wrote: “Tonight it was highlighted that there is a real gap in goal analysis.”
