PLAYER RATINGS | Holstien Kiel 1-6 Bayern Munich

0

In Bayern Munich’s first visit to Kiel, since they were eliminated by Holstien in the DFB Pokal in 2021, the Rekordmeister comfortably won the game.

The game went about how you thought it would. Within the first minute, Bayern were ahead through Jamal Musiala. At the seven-minute mark, Harry Kane made it 2-0 and any hope of Kiel potentially mounting a comeback was gone within 10 minutes. In the 13th minute, Musiala forced an own goal from Kiel defender Nicolai Remberg to make it 3-0, Kane would then make it 4-0 just before half-time. Kiel had not had a shot on goal when the whistle was blown for the break.

It was quite obvious that Bayern took their foot off the peddle in the second half as they prepared for their Champions League game against Dinamo Zagreb in midweek. Substitute Michale Olise made it 5-0 when he converted a rebound to score his first goal for Bayern. Kiel would get themselves a consolation goal in the 82nd minute through Armin Gigovic. Kane would then complete his hat-trick.

If we are being honest, there is not really a lot to take away from this game, Bayern were always going to win and going off of their track record in recent seasons (See Bochum 2023/24, 22/23, 21/22 and Mainz 23/24), it was clear that unless some miracle happened, Bayern were always going to win and it was really a question of by how many. While for Kiel this was really a free hit for them, they have shown positive signs in games against Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg.

GGFN Man of the Match: Harry Kane (9)

Oh, a hat-trick should merit a 10, this was not an out-of-this-world performance from Kane. At Bayern, this was really how everything was going to pan out and it was a given Kane would be central to the performance.
