Revealed: Pochettino told his Chelsea team they are not improving despite 4-0 win over Preston

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has been told his team is not improving despite Saturday's 4-0 FA Cup victory over Preston.

According to ESPN pundit Julien Laurens, he has yet to see any improvement at Chelsea despite Pochettino, although Pochettino has now been in charge of the Blues for seven months.

Speaking on ESPN (via The Byline) after the Blues' FA Cup third round victory over Preston North End, Laurens said: “No one can tell me this team is getting better! I don't see any improvement week after week, game after game. But how long? It's January 2024, it's been here since July 1st. I want to see something.

“The first half, literally, you, me, Freddie and Kate (fellow ESPN experts) could have played because there was no movement, no one was doing anything and the ball was clearly fair, well, let's try to find Sterling somehow, maybe “Maybe let's wait.” for a Palmer run… The full-backs don't really participate in anything. Those attacking midfielders don’t do much either.”

He added: “They never used him (Mykhailo Mudryk), they never used his pace or his skills and I just don't understand where they are going.

“I don't see patterns of play, I don't see finding the third man, I don't see anyone running into space. I don't really see much.

“We go back to the lack of movement and the lack of identity of this team, if you give the ball to Enzo (Fernández) but around him there is no movement from either your full-backs or your wide players, even from your forward to go deep a little more between the lines, Enzo can't do anything. He is very good with the ball but he is not a magician either.”
