Aston Villa Women are pleased to announce Sophia Poor has signed her first professional contract with the club.
The goalkeeper made her first-team debut, in difficult circumstances, during a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in April before following that up with a full debut at Villa Park against West Ham United a week later.
Poor is the latest example of our successful pathway from Academy to first-team and is now looking to gain more experience during the 2024/25 campaign.
Head of Women’s Football, Lee Billiard said: “We’re really pleased to be the club signing Sophia to her first professional contract.
“She stepped in to first-team action last season when required and performed very well.
“She handled herself excellently and we have seen nothing but positive progression from her.
“Sophia is a big talent at a young age and we believe she can cope with being part of the first-team environment.
“We hope signing Sophia shows our continued commitment as a club to ensure there is a successful pathway from Academy to first-team.”
