Julian Nagelsmann could make up to three changes when Germany host the Netherlands at the Allianz Arena tonight. He has already confirmed that Aleksandar Pavlovic (Bayern Munich) and Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart) will start in midfield tonight.
It will be Stiller’s first start for the national team and it’s certainly justifiable. The 23-year-old has already played 10 games across all competitions for VfB this season and following his €5.5m move from Hoffenheim in August 2023, his performances under Sebastian Hoeneß helped secure a return to Champions League football for Stuttgart.
Oliver Baumann is also expected to start in goal ahead of Alexander Nübel following the long-term injury to Germany No. 1 Marc-André ter Stegen. Ahead of the Hoffenheim goalkeeper, Nagelsmann should name the same defence that started in the 2-1 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday night.
Deniz Undav scored a brace in that game and in the absence of Niclas Füllkrug and Kai Havertz, he’s Germany’s biggest goal threat with three goals and one assist in his last two games.
There’s also a chance for Kevin Schade, Jamie Leweling and Jonathan Burkardt to earn some minutes from the bench.
Predicted Germany XI vs the Netherlands
Oliver Baumann – Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rüdiger, Jonathan Tah, Maximilian Mittelstädt – Aleksandar Pavlovic, Angelo Stiller – Serge Gnabry, Deniz Undav, Florian Wirtz – Tim Kleindienst
