The clash will now take place on Sunday April 7 with the unusual kick-off time of 6pm.

The decision to reschedule the match is due to rail and subway strikes threatening to cause travel chaos for both sets of supporters on the original match day.

Chosen for television coverage, the match will continue to be broadcast on television.

A Premier League spokesperson said: “The Premier League apologizes unreservedly to the fans of both clubs and to everyone affected by the inconvenience and disruption caused by this late change of schedule.

“The change is due to issues beyond the League's control, namely the decision to implement rail and tube strikes on Monday 8 April and the resulting reduction in available travel services.

“This has resulted in the local authority's Safety and Advisory Group determining that it is not possible to organize the match with the required levels of safety for fans in attendance.”

The 6:00 pm kick-off means that the match will coincide with the match between Sheffield United and Chelsea earring which will take place at 5:30 p.m.

That rearrangement came after the decision of the Manchester United vs Liverpool movement at the previous start of 3:30 p.m.
