According The Telegraph, Chelsea goalkeeping coach Hilario will join Tuchel in the Three Lions formation after tendering his resignation.

The report claims that Hilario had hoped to share the job between Chelsea and England, but the Blues were not willing to accept the request.

He joins assistant coach Anthony Barry, who worked with Tuchel at Chelsea and Bayern Munich, in the England squad.

Hilario's departure brings an end to his 18-year association with the Blues, having first arrived at Stamford Bridge as a player in 2006.

He then played 39 games for the Blues before retiring in 2014.

Hilario returned two years later as assistant goalkeeping coach under Antonio Conte before being promoted by Maurizio Sarri in 2018.

However, he will now have the opportunity to prove himself as an international coach with Tuchel and England.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca had already anticipated that Tuchel would call up several members of his staff after his appointment in England was confirmed and even mentioned Hilario as such.

“I know they have approached one of them, one of the analysts,” Maresca said in October.

“We're pretty open to people going away and taking a risk if they want to.

“I heard something about the other one, Hilario, but there still hasn't been any approach. This is the only thing I know.

“We are open-minded in terms of allowing people to take risks and we are also happy to keep people who want to stay and if they want to leave, they can leave.”

Maresca will not have to look far to replace Hilario given he has Michele De Bernardin, who joined him from Leicester City in the summer, and former Blues gloveman Willy Caballero at the club.
