Premier League duo in danger of having their contracts terminated ahead of the January transfer window
Odsonne Edouard and Maxwel Cornet could see their loan deals cut short before the January transfer window opens, talkSPORT understands.
city of leicester signed striker Edward from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in August on a season-long loan deal.
The Frenchman has only played six games and played 113 minutes for the Foxes in all competitions.
Edouard has not started any of their league games and his last appearance was coming off the bench in the 3-0 defeat against Manchester United.
Leicester may decide to terminate the deal early to free up loan space when the market reopens in January.
Southampton could replicate this with winger Cornet, who joined on a season-long loan from West Ham in the summer.
The Ivorian has only appeared four times for the Saints and last played in the Premier League at the end of September.
The majority of Cornet's minutes for Southampton came in the Carabao Cup, during wins over Everton and Stoke City.
Premier League rules dictate that clubs cannot register more than two players on loan at the same time.
Leicester have filled both positions with Edouard and Facundo Buonanotte, who signed from Brighton before the season started.
Southampton are also currently meeting Chelsea loanee Lesley Ugochukwu's quota in mid-August.
In addition to this, there is a maximum of four loan signings that can be made in a single season.
Clubs are also prohibited from having more than one loan from the same team at the same time.
The next transfer window for Premier League clubs opens on January 1 and closes on February 3 at 11:00 p.m.
It gives teams one last opportunity to strengthen their squads for the second half of the campaign.
