Jarrod Bowen has been named the new captain of West Ham.

Bowen has taken over the armband from Kurt Zouma, who looks set to leave the club for Saudi Arabia.

The 27-year-old will lead the Hammers throughout the campaign, with Aaron Cresswell as his vice-captain.

Speaking about his appointment as captain, the England international said: “I am incredibly proud and happy to be captain of West Ham United.

“We have had many fantastic moments as a club. I have been here for four and a half years now, so to be named club captain is a very proud moment and a great honour for me.

“It’s been four and a half years since I joined but it feels like a lot longer and that’s the pleasure of playing for this Club and the relationships I’ve had with all the groups of players we’ve had, the coaches we’ve had and the fans.

“It's been an incredible journey, and from when I first signed to sitting here four and a half years later and being named club captain, I'm so proud.

“Since I've been here there's been an upward trajectory in what we've done on and off the court.

“Reaching this moment is a new declaration of love that I have for this Club, along with the one I made last year when I signed my new contract. At that time I said that I wanted to stay here for the rest of my life and I have not changed my mind.

“If I can go down in history as a legend here in the next few years, that would be fantastic.”
