On Sunday, last season’s Bundesliga runners up Stuttgart, will be hosting the runners up of last seasons Champions League, Borussia Dortmund, with former Stuttgart players set to return to the MHP Arena for the first time.
Both Waldemar Anton and Serhou Guirassy left Stuttgart to join Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Anton has settled well into the Dortmund defence whilst Guirassy recently made his debut after returning from injury and then scored in Dortmund’s first Champions League match against Club Brugge.
Anton may receive a more hostile reception from the Stuttgart supporters after signing a contract extension as club captain in January, only to then leave shortly after in the summer.
Dortmund have had a positive start to the season and are yet to lose a game in all competitions.
Last week they secured a 4-2 victory in an entertaining match against Heidenheim, which now takes them to second place and two points behind the league leaders Bayern Munich.
Stuttgart have endured a more difficult start to the season after losing on penalties in the DFL Supercup final and then losing their opening Bundesliga match away at Freiburg.
Since then they have picked up four points and recently lost their opening Champions league fixture 2-1 against Real Madrid however the performance was very encouraging and manager, Sebastian Hoeneß saw thew match as something that his team can build on.
