- Aston Villa Vs. Leicester City – Sat, Jan 4th 2025, 15:00
Jacob Ramsey is aiming to start 2025 on a positive note when Leicester City visit Villa Park on Saturday.
The 23-year-old made his return from injury against Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, coming off the bench in the 2-2 draw.
Aston Villa have the fourth-best home record in the Premier League through the first 19 games of the campaign, and Ramsey is looking to maintain that against the Foxes.
“I watched their game against Manchester City and they’ve got some really good players who play some good football,” he said.
“It’s going to be a really tough game, but we’re feeling strong at home at the moment, so hopefully that will continue.”
Ramsey added: “Our home form’s been really good this season.
“Hopefully the fans can get behind us and we can keep the great form coming.”
The midfielder missed nine matches after picking up an injury against Liverpool in November, but he’s back and feeling strong heading into the new year.
His return to the fold is a welcome boost for the squad at a time when injuries and suspensions are cropping up.
“It’s been a tough couple of weeks being injured again, but I was so happy to be back out there with the boys,” he said.
“It’s been great being around them again. Sometimes being injured can be lonely when it’s just you and physio.
“I missed a tonne of games previously, but we’ve got another busy period with the FA Cup and Champions League games as well.
“I’m hoping that I can stay fit and work my way into the team again.”
Villa have the start of their FA Cup campaign to look forward to in January, with Champions League games against Celtic and Monaco on the horizon too.
Ramsey believes that if they can maintain consistent form in the top flight over the second half of the season they will once again be challenging for a place in Europe.
“We’re doing well,” he said.
“The boss mentioned it before the Brighton game that if we continue this form and get the same amount of points from the next 19 games then we’ll be in contention for European football.”
