- Ipswich Town Vs. Aston Villa – Sun, Sep 29th 2024, 14:00
Jacob Ramsey was left to reflect on a tough contest against Ipswich Town as Aston Villa battled out a 2-2 draw at Portman Road.
Liam Delap’s eighth-minute opener handed the hosts the lead before Villa turned the match around thanks to Morgan Rogers’ first goal of the season and in-form Ollie Watkins’ close-range header.
Emi Martínez made stunning saves to deny Kalvin Phillips and Delap in the first half, but Delap’s second strike of the match after the interval saw the Premier League encounter finish all square in Suffolk.
“Tough game,” Ramsey told VillaTV post-match.
“We knew they were going to be up for it with their atmosphere.
“Really tough game to play in, I felt like we dominated the ball, especially in the first half.
“At 2-1 up, I thought we started the second half pretty well. We had a couple of chances but just didn’t take them.
“Any game in the Premier League, if you don’t take your chances then you’ll get punished.”
Despite the frustration of Villa’s five-match winning sequence coming to an end, Unai Emery’s side remain six unbeaten amid an impressive start to the campaign which has seen them taste defeat just once.
The Villans have also won four and drawn one of their five matches on the road in all competitions this term.
And attention now switches to Wednesday’s mouth-watering UEFA Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich at Villa Park.
“We’ve got to dust ourselves off,” added Ramsey.
“Obviously, we’re disappointed with this result, we felt like we could have won the game, but another big game on Wednesday.
“We’re back in on Monday, recover and go again.”
