Jacob Ramsey felt Aston Villa were not clinical enough in Sunday’s loss to Manchester United at Villa Park.

After falling behind, the hosts were in control for the majority of the contest and saw several presentable goalscoring opportunities come and go before and after Douglas Luiz levelled the scores.

But Villa were left empty-handed when Scott McTominay headed home an 86th-minute winner.

“Especially in the first half, I had two or three chances and Ollie had two or three chances and on another day we’d put them away and kill the game in the first half,” Ramsey reflected.

“We want to win games and we’ve not been great at home recently but we can take positives from the performance.

“Manchester United are a big team and we were dominant today. We were just lacking the last ball in the final third.”

Despite the setback, Villa remain well-placed in the Premier League and sit fifth in the table with 14 games to play.

A trip to Fulham on Saturday offers the team a chance to get back to winning ways.

Ramsey said: “It’s another week to rest, recover and I’m sure the boss will look over the game and tell us his plans.

“We’ll get the tactical work in and look forward to the game.”
