Assane Diao had a great start to the season with Real Betis, but since February, his first team minutes have drastically reduced. Since the start of March, the 18-year-old has played just 22 minutes, all of which came in a match against Rayo Vallecano – he has often played for Betis' B team instead.
Despite this, Diao remains a top talent, and his performances earlier in the season have attracted the interest of clubs in the Premier League – namely Brighton and Brentford. He is said to be “very open” to leaving Betis in the summer, and second MDhis release clause is currently less than expected.
At this time, any interested club can pay 15 million euros to sign Diao, although it is not that simple. Betis can increase the release clause to 30 million euros, provided they double his salary, which is currently one of the lowest in the first team.
It remains to be seen how The Real Betis approach the situation of Diao in the summer. He is certainly a top talent, although given he is not in Manuel Pellegrini's plans, cashing in now could be a shrewd move.
