When it comes to injuries, Real Madrid would have no luck if they didn't have bad luck. In the past month, three of their players have suffered torn ACLs, with the latest rising star Joan Martinez – who was to be a regular member of Carlo Ancelotti's first team squad, despite being only 16 years old.
Cesar Palacios, who was also on Real Madrid's pre-season tour of the United States, tore his ACL against AC Milan earlier this month. This follows the case of U19 player Daniel Mesonero, who did similar in July. In total, there have been six of the same injuries for Los Blancos in a period of 12 months – after Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao (last August) and David Alaba (December).
Relief say that Real Madrid cannot understand why these injuries continue to happen. In Valdebebas, the club's training complex, they are already wondering what is happening so that this type of encounter is happening more and more frequently.
