Real Madrid will sit down with super-agent Jorge Mendes to discuss the future of the Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin this week The 25-year-old has a year left on his deal and could leave the club this summer.

Lunin had by all accounts agreed to a new long-term contract with Los Blancos, but did not sign it. For the last few weeks, his future is not clear, with Real Madrid even have news of their intentions, although they suspect that the presence of Mendes could be a move to make an exit. AS Diary say that Mendes met with Real Madrid this week to make a decision on his future.

It is clear that he wants playing time and continuity, which seem difficult at Real Madrid with Thibaut Courtois in place, so a departure is not excluded. If this happens, then Mendes will suggest another of his clients, Diogo Costa of Porto, who played a leading role for Portugal at Euro 2024, as a replacement for Lunin. It is noted that the president of Porto Andre Vilas-Boas stated that they have no intention of selling Costa.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper seems unlikely to replace Lunin as back-up to Courtois, as he likely has enough cachet to gain a starting role at another big club. Given his age, his contract that runs until 2027, and a €75 million release clause, Real Madrid seem highly unlikely to spend big on Lunin's replacement.

Lunin has been linked with West Ham and then Celtic during the year, and if he leaves, then it could mean that Real Madrid are trying to bring back Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga. Amidst the transfer tetris, Kepa has been considering an offer from Saudi Arabia.
