It seemed that this would be the last year at Real Madrid Castilla for the legendary attacker Raul Gonzalez, but he will take charge of a sixth year in the B team.

Raul had again been heavily linked with a return to Germany, with several reports saying he had decided to take a new experience abroad. Union Berlin and Hamburg have been mentioned as potential destinations, while he interviewed for the Villarreal job earlier this season, and was a candidate for the Sevilla job this summer. Raul had also publicly admitted that he considers other options.

However Brand say that Raul told the club that he would continue in Castilla, even though Los Blancos knew that he would always leave for the right offer. President Florentino Perez will not move Raul, due to his legendary status at the club.

His continuity comes after his worst season in charge of Castilla. Finishing 10th, Castilla looked at one stage as if they could be dragged into a relegation battle, having made the play-offs the previous season. It also means that Alvaro Arbeloa, thought by many at the club as a potential first-team manager in the future, will remain as under-19 manager.
