Real Madrid are waiting to see what happens with the Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies. The Canadian looked as if he was certain to join Los Blancos months ago, but Bayern have not given up on him.
Ace for AS DiaryReal Madrid feel they have done their part. They will not change their offer, while Davies knows his salary and the length of the contract. They waited until the first of January when they could write that contract, and refer to the word of Davies that he will sign with them – “the betrayals are out of our control”, read the report.
Real Madrid continue to preach calm on the matter, but there are nerves due to the lack of a definitive answer. Davies initially demanded €20 million in annual wages, but has reduced those demands to €15 million per season, plus a €15 million signing bonus. Bayern are close to offering 14 million euros per season, but they are preparing a final “effort” to try to get the deal done.
The player himself is happy in Munich, and feels loved by the fans, but is aware of the size of the opportunity, joining Real Madrid at the age of 24 as their starting left-back. AS goes on to say that “if Davies doesn't sign, it's about money”.
Davies has also been linked with Manchester United, who could undoubtedly compete financially. Agent Nedal Househ is set to hear an offer from the Red Devils while in England as well in January. It seems that the Los Blancos will bet on the attractiveness of his offer surpassing any extra financial gain that he could earn elsewhere.
