Real Madrid were preparing to go into the 2024-25 campaign with just three recognized centre-backs: Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao and Jesus Vallejo, who barely played during his loan spell at Granada last season. They have a few young people who can be called, but lost one of those this week, with Joan Martinez tears her ACL during training.
Despite this, Real Madrid are not willing to bring in an older centre-back, although they could opt for a younger signing from Brazil – a ploy he has executed to perfection on several occasions in recent years. According to reports in the South American nation (via MD), a move was considered for Victor Reis.
Reis, 18, is considered a top talent in Brazil and recently signed a new contract with Palmeiras that includes a €100m release clause.
Real Madrid may need to spend a lot to sign Reis, although they have already done it in Brazil with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and Endrick Felipe. There is a decent chance that a move could happen, as they also have a very good relationship with Palmeiras, due to that deal for Endrick in 2022.
