The renewal of the 29-year-old Frenchman has become a priority for the Blancos, who have opened discussions on an extension. Mendy has a year from his deal, and for a long period they were open to a sale, but after proving their doubters wrong, Real Madrid changed the touch.

He has always had the support of Carlo Ancelotti, and now there is positivity around the talks between Mendy and Madrid, they say. Brand, although an agreement is yet to be reached. Meanwhile they say that as things stand, Real Madrid intend to hang on to Fran Garcia, and they have no intention of Miguel Gutierrez playing for the club next season, despite his €8m buyback option.

As for Davies, Los Blancos aren't exactly thrilled with the amount of information coming from the Canadian's camp about his renewal talks with Bayern, which is still on the table. Real Madrid have made it clear that they will not enter the auction with Bayern, and if they do enter into talks, for a move this summer, it will only be when Davies rules out a new deal with Bayern.
